But find me an industry where the consumers are the ones calling the shots. Gamers aren’t revolting against anything. We’ve seen their “boycotts“ in the past. A boycott relies on folks to spend money on what they want. Gamers think holding onto their cash is going to make a difference, when the suits just pivot to where the money is being made.

Nintendo being “behind the times” will be the reasons we still get a variety in games and experiences from them. They will rely on exclusive game sales to push hardware sales and improve attach rates. Meaning they will have to try harder to innovate and appeal to gamers. While the other two will just make what investors tell them to make, with a couple indies sprinkled in here and there.

The Trump republicans got offended that the company had a marketing campaign aimed at the trans community, and the LGBTQ+ folks didn’t like the way the company left Dylan out to dry with no support. After a few quiet months, Kid Rock is on Joe Rogan saying everything is cool, it was just a misunderstanding and the trans community moved on to bigger and better things. That whole thing was just a bunch of noise and AB is doing just fine.

And there’s no gaming advocacy group because it’s part of the entertainment industry. It’s not a necessity. And gaming journalists have no spine. They’ll sell their souls for a review copy. It’s cheaper and easier to just go through Twitch streamers.

Playstation is on the path to irrelevance. They haven't announced a single player first party exclusive in nearly 3 years. No wonder they are expected to miss sales targets by 4 million. People are just moving to PC and once that happens their 30% cut on third party games will vanish.

Not only that, but as Consoles become more expensive PC will inevitably grow bigger than it is now to the more informed consumers. When you factor in the $500 for the console and $80 a year for online ($400 over a 5 year console gen) $900 for just the console and online fees. You can buy a mid range gaming PC for $1,000, and that PC has access to a 73,000 game catalogue on Steam alone. Unless you're dead set on console only, the extra $100 for access to thousands of more titles is enough to make a lot of people lean toward PC.

The online fees alone make me wonder why anyone is still being milked by consoles... Seems crazy.

Gamers definitely band together to reject trends we hate.... Battlefront 2, Suicide Squad, the upcoming star wars outlaws is about to bomb hard.... All based on trends gamers reject and discuss...

I imagine Nintendo will still operate how they always have and that's fine... If they're producing decent games people will buy. I will too! I still maintain that if these companies release more and more samezy, vanilla, diminishing return nothingburger games and sequels they won't survive.... Their investors will see they are producing nothing new and it'll be end game.

The 360 participated in many anti-consumer practices. The one that stood out the most was charging for services such as Netflix even though the service had nothing do with their online service. Think about that for a moment, they were charging gamers for access to third party subscriptions.😑

Worldwide, PC is by far the larger market. In US, console is (AFAIK). So you could skew the statistics in your arguments favor if you were part of the peasantry and not part of the glorious, pro-gaming Master Race on PC.
